I’m flying to London tonight. Maybe in First Class. I’m seeing an Arcade Fire concert on Saturday night, and then flying home on Sunday.

Sprinting to the FinishSprinting to the Finish

I ran what I felt was a great race. I would have liked to have finished a little higher in the rankings, but I ran fast, and there were a lot of fast kids there. This was the first race all season where I really felt good, and where I really had the finishing kick that I had last year.

One complaint: the fucking disqualifications. Two kids on my team got DQed for wearing jewelry, one a necklace, the other a LiveStrong bracelet. Talk about a stupid rule! Why does it matter whether or not someone is wearing a LiveStrong bracelet? This is simply a case of adults doing that best to convince us that they’re stupid. Enforcing rules that make no sense is absolutely the wrong thing to do. Assholes.

Idiots and Tuckerman Ravine

•November 9, 2007 • No Comments

I love it when people who know nothing about Mt. Washington try to tell me stories about Tuckerman Ravine. Or, as they like to call it, Tuckerman’s Ravine. NO FUCKING APOSTRAPHE!

“Oh, David, my friend was telling me about how when they had the Minis on Top day, a bunch of Mini drivers parked way too close to the edge of the ravine and got shouted at.”

“That’s um, impossible. There is no road near the ravine” *Shows Google Earth satellite photo*

Tuckerman Ravine and the Lack of a Parking Lot

“Well, they had a picture of the cars and everything. It was really cool”

Dipwad! That can’t happen. There is no road or parking area near Tuckerman Ravine. Thus, it’s impossible for people to park their cars too close to the edge. Plain and simple. Get that through your thick head, you overbearing, arrogant asshole. God, I hate people like you.

State meet tomorrow. Cape Cod Academy vs. The State of Massachusetts. Yes, it sounds like a court case. And I’ve got to wake up at like 5 tomorrow to go to this court case. And it’s a long drive. Now it’s starting to sound like jury duty. Seriously though, why 7:00 AM? That’s a bit goddamn unreasonable. At Burger King no less. I hate Burger King.

Weak Dollar? What the hell?

•November 7, 2007 • No Comments

How hard is it for our government to do something about the failing dollar? I’m not an economics geek, but there has to be something that we can do to stop the plunge of the worth of the dollar. It’s affecting everything. Travelers to Europe are screwed. Gas prices are rising extremely quickly, up 60% this year alone.

gas price rising

Headlines like these should be a bright blinking alert to our politicians and lawmakers that something needs to be done. Gas is already expensive enough without economic troubles contributing.

Gold is also becoming absurdly expensive as people sell off their weak dollars and buy other things. There has to be something that can be done economically to ease this problem!

Serj Tankian: Elect the Dead: Empty Walls

It kicks ass. It’s SOAD without Daron, Shavo, and John. It’s Serj playing all the instruments. It’s Serj singing about how much our current society sucks. It’s simply the best album of the month, and Empty Walls, released early on YouTube, is one of the best songs off the album.

1. Put a shark tank in the middle of center field. A hit counts for two runs if it lands in the shark tank! Whenever a visiting fielder makes an error, they are thrown in the shark tank!

An Angsty Editorial

•October 27, 2007 • 1 Comment

I realize I might be pretty rare. A teenager who reads the newspaper. A teenager who cares about current events. Who follows what’s going on in the world and in the community he lives in. A teen who cares enough to think intelligently about major issues and who takes the time to develop opinions on these issues. I realize there is more to life than partying, drinking, drugs, and sex.
I’m also a teen who reads the newspaper looking for content that encourages thought. Content that causes me to worry, laugh, and most of all, to think.
Which is why I react in such disgust when I read anything that is published about people my age. Every article I’ve read recently has been about Internet safety for teens, our lack of judgment, or our complete inability to express ourselves in the “adult world”. I’m sick and tired of the condescending tone, the idea that we require adults to make every decision for us, and our relegation to the title of “kids”. For once, I’d like to read an article that doesn’t make me angry with the author for treating me like a stupid, thoughtless, irresponsible brat. If the Times cannot publish articles about teenagers without the inferior tone and the countless platitudes, maybe they should stop writing about us at all. I would much rather read an article about some issue of politics or opinion than a piece telling me how my parents need to snoop around on my Facebook page, or how I don’t have the intelligence required to keep myself safe from drugs and alcohol. Please, stop the literary dreck aimed at teens and write some articles that encourage me to think and to use the brain that your articles claim I don’t have.
